This young man is not your typical mixed martial artist. The affable Gerald Harris attended East Central High in Tulsa before attending Cleveland State University (Cleveland, OH), where as a student athlete (wrestling) he received his Bachelor’s Degree in History. While in college, Harris pursued one of his lifelong dreams as a stand up comedian. He was very successful and was voted Ohio’s top new comedian & promoter, but decided to become a high school history teacher to secure a stable income. While teaching he got into mixed martial arts and eventually became a full time fighter- along with restarting his comedy career.
So far he has traveled worldwide to compete in MMA & perform comedy. He also served as a cast member on Spike TV’s Ultimate Fighter 7, followed by a 3-1 UFC record with all wins coming by knockout, & a became two time MMA World Champion. Fighting is not a new concept to the Harris family. Gerald”s father was a competitive boxer and bestowed the name “Hurricane” on his son. Outside of MMA, Harris loves to spend time with his family and work on drawings for his art collection. His lifetime goal is to become a well known actor & comedian.
